The beginning of the
Malaysian Cup saw a one all draw between Group A’s PKNS FC and Johor FA at
Stadium Petaling Jaya on August 22nd.
Both goals were scored on
penalty shootouts and they were scored during the second half of the match.
Muriel Orlando, who
plays forward, scored the goal for Johor FA. The Argentinian import scored the
goal at the 74th minute which was a surprise to many of the
spectators who were mostly supporters of PKNS FC.
Having played in home
ground, PKNS FC had the most ball possession throughout the entire game. Dawood Nicoise who is the team’s latest star
had the most amounts of ball possession and goal attempts throughout the game.
In the 80th
minute, the French soccer star scored the equalizer through a penalty shootout
which made most of the stadium to cheer in relieve.
“It was a difficult
game and we are lucky to score one goal” said the French import.
PKNS FC who was wearing
their red coloured jersey won the coin toss and had the most amounts of goal
attempts throughout the game. However,
their captain Mohd Fadhil was very disappointed for not having to win the game
even with the large amount of ball possessions and goal attempts.
“It was a loss for PKNS
FC for not winning on our home ground” said their captain.
Dressed in blue, Johor
FA put on a good fight by having a few unexpected goal attempts. With the
minimal amount of ball possession, the goal scored at the 74th
minute was definitely a spirit booster for the team’s fans in the stadium.
Their captain Tharmini
seemed very happy with the result that they achieved in the match. “We are
happy with the game because this is an away game and we are looking forward for
our next home game”.
Throughout the game
there were two yellow cards given to Johor’s Syamim and to their captain
Tharmini by the match’s referee, Denis Ak Sayeng.
PKNS FC would play
against Singapore’s Lions for the next Group A match. “Our target for our away
game is not to loose and at least score one goal” said their captain.
When asked about their upcoming match, Johor
FA on the other hand is very optimistic as it would be played on home ground
against Johor FC. “We will give a strong fight in our next game and we are aiming
for three goals” answered their captain Tharmini.
Both PKNS FC and Johor
FA would be playing against Group A’s Lions and Johor FC on the 25th
of August vying to move on to the next round in Malaysia Cup. There are 16
teams competing for the Malaysian Cup for the chance to override the joy and
pride of last year’s champion Negeri Sembilan FA.
